Nothing To Wish For (Nothing To Lose)
Our new album 'Nothing To Wish For (Nothing To Lose)' is out now on Club AC30. The reviews and feedback so far have been extremely positive and we are certain we have created the best Air Formation album so far.... Thanks to everyone who's gone out and bought a copy, physical or otherwise. It's what keeps labels like Club AC30 (and in turn us) going.......

The very talented folk at 'The Progress Film Company' shot an amazing video for the lead single 'Low December Sun' which can be viewed here. The single has been getting a lot of radio play over the last month on the likes of NME Radio (who've A listed us for the best part of two months) BBC6 Music & Xfm.

All in all a great start......

More soon...

Our first worthwhile update in over a year......

NEW ALBUM

Firstly, and most importantly, we return to Pat Collier’s Perryvale Studio this week to start recording our new album. We are going to record it in few separate stages during September (maybe into October??) so as not to rush it and ensure that we end up with the greatest album we’ve ever made… The album will be released by Club AC30 in early 2010 and be preceded by a single….

Check out the Air Formation ‘Twitter’ page (http://twitter.com/Air_Formation) where you will be able to read all the news and views on the recording process as we move forward.

More news on this soon.

GIGS

On the 26th of November we play the ICA in London with Ulrich Schnauss and a special headliner who is still due to be announced. It’s a Club AC30 show as part of Reverence 2009, more info can be found here. Around the album release there will be more shows, we promise.

NEW ‘MATT BARTRAM’ ALBUM

Late last year I started working on another album to help those dark evenings pass a bit faster (and here we are heading back into them), it was completed over the early stages of 2009 and has been named “Left to Memory”. The kind folk at Drifting Falling will be releasing it very soon so check http://www.myspace.com/mattbartramsounds for more info as it comes in.

That’s all for now, we’ll be back soon.

Matt, Ben, Richard, James & Ian.

We're pleased to announce that September 2008 will see the release of our new single Things That Don't Exist / Fires. This will be a 7" only release through Bristol's Distant Noise Records. These tracks were recorded last year with Pat Collier in London.... We hope you enjoy them.

The single is available to pre-order now via www.myspace.com/distantnoiserecords

The Static Silence album was released just over a week ago and has all but sold out.

All is not lost though, you should be able to find copies from either Tonevendor (very soon), Norman Records & Smallfish Records (now!)... here's what the latter two have written about it...

Smallfish Records

The fifth release in Distant Noise's series of CDr's comes from The Static Silence. Apparently begun in 2002 it was finished in 2008 and, in my opinion, it's a bit of a treat. For those that like Seefeel, Slowdive or MBV, there's definitely something to enjoy here as the guitars roll along over slow beats and have an earthy, yet distant feel. The female vocals are breathy and lush with an alluring honesty to them. A great little label with a limited run of 100 copies for each release... get in there quick!

Norman Records

The Static Silence: Found (Distant Noise) Recalls the stately grandeur of of my recent faves Beach House, the ambient atmospherics of the recent shoegazing revival and the blue toned, sparkling productions of Robin Guthrie. Across seven tracks-started by one member, completed by another, there's what sound like synthetic drum programmes, tremelo and FX laded guitars. The addition of female vocals low in the mix bring a kind of mournful edge to proceedings on track three. Overall, it flits from shoe to navel in it's reflective approach. If you like the Cocteau Twins style of post-punk, pre-goth angst then you'll appreciate the hard to fathom dull glow. Kinda of enjoyable for miserablists. Limited to 100

I'll be back soon with the info on our next release......... 100% Air Formation.

Arundel
March already..... Sorry for the lack of communication on this page, in truth there's not been much to report. However, as always there are various things in the pipeline which I hope to be able to share with you soon. In the meantime you may be interested in the Air Formation related info below.

Last year I recorded a solo album called 'Arundel', I'm proud to say this will be released by Drifting Falling on March 11th, You can pre-order now from here (www.driftingfalling.com) where you'll also be able to listen to a few tracks that aren't up on my myspace site... (www.myspace.com/mattbartramsounds)

In 2002 I started a collaboration with Rachel Goldstar (Experimental Aircraft) which we named 'The Static Silence', 6 years later our debut album nears completion and is due to be released on Bristol's 'Distant Noise Records' in May 2008, it will be the 5th in a series of limited releases that included 'Jessica Bailiff', 'Yellow 6', & 'Luga' to name a few... I highly recommend you check out Distant Noise (www.distantnoiserecords.co.uk).

That's all for now.

Our new single 'It's Over Now/Formation 2' will be released on the 1st of October by Club AC30, available on 7" and download only. The 7" is ltd to 200 copies and is expected to sell out very quickly. To avoid disappointment you can pre-order direct from Club AC30 NOW.

Here's an update on our latest goings-on.

The wonderful reviews and feedback for Daylight Storms continue to roll in, thanks to those of you who picked up a copy.

In the coming months Club AC30 will be releasing our new single It's Over Now/Formation 2. It will be released on ltd 7" vinyl/download and was recorded with Pat Collier right at the end of last year. This for me draws a line under our Daylight Storms phase as It's Over Now was originally intended for the album but was never recorded during the session... More on that soon.

Also...

Some of you may be aware that during a short break I found time to record what I can only describe as a 'solo album'. The album is called Arundel and will be released on DriftingFalling towards the end of the summer.. It's a fantastic label and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it.

And...

I've received word that The Static Silence album will be released in the near future. This is the project between myself and Rachel Goldstar (Experimental Aircraft, Eau Claire) which was started about five years ago and never completed.. until now. Distant Noise Records plan to release this sometime next year.

Of course Air Formation remains my sole focus and I continue to work on a bunch of songs I hope will form the next album.

That's all for now.............

Matt

Well... February was a busy month by Air Formation standards.... 5 gigs and a live radio session all in 18 days, may not sound much but that was more than we did in the whole of 2006.............................

These gigs have been the most enjoyable we've ever done, and all came to a fittingly noisy end at our hometown show at 'The Hope' last night... Thanks to everyone who came along to the shows to see us, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.....

Then we come to the album......

Thank you all so much for your kind messages and comments, keep 'em coming, it's a big part of what keeps us going.... I think we raised the bar pretty high with this one, where do we go from here????

If all goes to plan there will be another new Air Formation release later this year.....
